Behind ÁLTERO is Victoria, an Argentinian fashion designer based in Paris, working at the intersection of sustainable fashion and art.
ÁLTERO was born from a simple but demanding idea: creating bags that are environmentally responsible without compromising aesthetics.
Every piece is made by Victoria herself from her home studio. She personally collects discarded plastic materials, washes them, selects them, cuts them, sews them, and photographs the final pieces. The entire process is hands-on and deeply artisanal.
Because the materials are reclaimed, many pieces become unique or part of very small series.
ÁLTERO is therefore not only a brand, but also a way of working: slow, experimental, and attentive to what already exists.
ÁLTERO is an independent brand that creates bags from previously discarded plastic materials, reclaimed and carefully selected to become limited edition designer pieces.
The design process works differently from conventional fashion production. Instead of starting with a fixed design and searching for the materials to produce it, the process begins with what already exists.

This question is at the core of ÁLTERO’s design philosophy: learning to create functional objects using materials that already exist, rather than producing new ones.
Today, many everyday products are made from plastic-derived fibers. When these materials are not reused, recycled or transformed into energy, they often end up as waste — in oceans, fields, around animals, or in massive landfills where they can remain for decades, sometimes centuries.
If these materials are going to stay in the world, ÁLTERO proposes giving them a second life and a meaningful durability.
On average, around 90% of each ÁLTERO product is made from recovered materials, and in some cases the pieces are 100% reclaimed.
